Basic rules of online blackjack

The object of the game in online blackjack is to get a hand as close to 21 as possible without going "bust," an automatic loss. Your opponent in online blackjack is the dealer, and to win, you must beat the dealer's hand. The highest hand is a blackjack, which is two cards that equal 21. Blackjack beats all other hands except for another blackjack.

To make an online blackjack bet at an Internet casino, you simply click on the number of chips you wish to chance. After betting, you receive 2 cards face up. The dealer receives one card face up. The other card, called the "hole card" is not revealed until the end of the hand. Blackjack cards from 2 to 10 are at face value. Jacks, Queens, and Kings have a value of 10. Ace is worth either 1 or 11; whichever is more advantageous to your hand.

At this point you decide whether you want to add to your card total by taking a “hit”. You may take as many hits as possible while staying under 22 in online blackjack. Once you feel you have a high enough blackjack hand you “stand”. Now the dealer reveals the hole card. Blackjack dealers stand on 17 – 21 and hit under 16. Beat the dealer – you’re an online winner!
